Statement from the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT)
Subject: Reaffirming Thailand’s Commitment to Human Rights and Responsible Business Conduct (RBC)

The Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT) expresses its concern regarding recent social media reports alleging harassment and violence against migrant workers in Thailand.

As a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations, Thai employers uphold a strong commitment to respecting human rights and maintaining the highest international labour standards. Any allegations must be based on clear, verifiable evidence to ensure fairness for all parties involved.

Beyond its commitment to human rights, ECOT has consistently promoted Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) in collaboration with members across all sectors. Our aim is to foster safe, equitable, and non-discriminatory workplaces through actions such as:

Promoting ILO standards and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights

Monitoring and providing training on supply chain due diligence

Collaborating with social partners to protect migrant workers and ensure fair treatment under Thai law

ECOT remains committed to fact-based dialogue and encourages all stakeholders — including buyers and global brands — to join us in promoting transparency and upholding the rights of all workers.

Thai employers reaffirm our pledge to maintain safe, fair, and humane working conditions. Where violations are proven, legal actions will be taken in strict accordance with Thai law.

Mr. Eksit Khunananthakul
President
Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT)
