The Employers' Confederation of Thailand (ECOT) participated in the landmark ICDL Asia Digital Literacy Day 2024, where the inaugural ICDL Asia Digital Educators' Awards celebrated excellence in educational innovation. ECOT was represented by President Khun Ekasit Kunanantakul and Advisor Khun Siripong Intavadee at this significant event, which brought together digital education leaders from across Asia.
The awards ceremony was presided over by distinguished guests including Mr. Fabian Bigar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Malaysia; Her Excellency Orla Tunney, Ambassador of Ireland to Malaysia; Mr. Damien O'Sullivan, CEO of ICDL Foundation; Ms. Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia,  M.R.  Nongkran Chompoonut, Chairperson of Digital Council.of Thailand, Ms. Jullada Meejul, Director General, Thailand Professional Qualification Institute, and  Dr. Hugh O'Connell, Managing Director of ICDL Thailand. During the event, Khun Ekasit delivered a keynote speech on "Digital Skills for Employability" at MMU's Cyberjaya campus, highlighting the critical intersection between digital education and workforce development. His presentation emphasized how digital competencies are becoming essential across all sectors and industries.
The inaugural Digital Educators' Awards recognized eight outstanding educators from across the region who have excelled in integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into their teaching practices. The award recipients, representing institutions from China, Vietnam, and Malaysia, demonstrated innovative approaches ranging from gamified learning platforms to data-informed teaching methodologies.
The strategic partnership between ECOT and ICDL Thailand continues to strengthen, focusing on two key missions: supporting employers in achieving digital readiness and enhancing digital literacy among students who will become vital contributors to various industries. This collaboration aligns with ICDL's broader mission of promoting ICT literacy to foster a sustainable digital ecosystem across the region.
"Digital literacy is no longer optional – it's a fundamental requirement for workforce participation in the modern economy," stated Khun Ekasit. "Our partnership with ICDL Thailand enables us to provide world-class digital skills training and certification to Thailand's current and future workforce, ensuring they remain competitive in an increasingly digital global market."
Looking ahead, ECOT and ICDL Thailand are committed to expanding their initiatives to support digital transformation in Thailand's workforce, including:

* Expanding digital skills training programs across Thailand
* Developing industry-specific digital competency frameworks
* Creating targeted initiatives for small and medium enterprises
* Establishing new partnerships with educational institutions
* Launching specialized programs for emerging technologies
