📢 ILO and ECOT Convene Dialogue on Preventing Violence and Harassment in the Workplace (C.190), Strengthening the Role of Employers in Creating Safe Workplaces
The International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT), organized a meeting on
“Preventing Violence and Harassment in the Workplace in accordance with the ILO Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No.190)”

📍 Sai Yok Garden Resort, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand
The meeting brought together representatives from enterprises, the business sector, labour experts, and relevant government agencies to exchange perspectives and explore practical approaches for creating workplaces that are safe, respectful of human dignity, and free from violence and harassment.
The forum featured distinguished speakers, including:
🔹 Ms. Siriwan Romchattrong
Secretary-General, Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT)
who delivered the opening remarks, introduced the overview of the meeting, and presented on
“The Role of Employers in Preventing Violence and Harassment in the Workplace.”
🔹 Mr. Alain Pelcé
Senior International Labour Standards and Labour Law Specialist
International Labour Organization (ILO)
who delivered a session on
“Understanding the ILO Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No.190)”,
highlighting the global labour standard aimed at eliminating violence and harassment in the world of work.
🔹 Ms. Pornpawee Thongsomboon and Ms. Pornsuda Jiamphattanatrakul
Representatives from the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour
who presented on Thailand’s legal and policy context, including current labour protection mechanisms.
Participants also engaged in group discussions to analyze risks and challenges faced by different industries, and jointly developed policy recommendations from the employers’ perspective, contributing to future improvements in labour measures in Thailand.
This meeting reflects the strong collaboration between ILO and ECOT in promoting the concept of Decent Work, while supporting Thai enterprises in developing concrete policies and management systems to effectively prevent violence and harassment in the workplace.
