The Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT) reaffirms its leadership role on the international stage,
sending a representative to participate in the regional meeting:
“Bangkok Roundtable for Just EV Transition – Fourth Session”
The event was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP),
in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

ECOT appointed Mr. Bavornsak Klaharn, Advisor to ECOT,
to represent the organization and share perspectives from the employers’ sector.
🌍 “EV is not just a technology shift — it is a transformation of the workforce”
The roundtable highlighted that the transition to electric vehicles (EV)
is becoming a critical turning point for both the economy and the labour market.
📊 Thailand’s EV adoption has grown rapidly,
from just 1,821 vehicles in 2020 to over 95,000 in 2025
This transition is driving major changes, including:- The emergence of new occupations in the EV industry
- Increasing demand for reskilling and upskilling
- Potential displacement risks for certain groups of workers
⚖️ “Just Transition”: A global priority for inclusive change
The event emphasized the concept of “Just Transition”
— ensuring that the shift toward EV development
leaves no one behind, including workers, businesses, and society.
Key focus areas include:- Closing workforce skills gaps
- Ensuring equitable access to training opportunities
- Protecting workers affected by structural changes
- Developing inclusive infrastructure for all communities
