ECOT Contributes to Efforts to Prevent and Eliminate the Worst Forms of Child Labour
On Monday, 31 August 2026, Mr. Ukrit Kanjanaket, Senior Advisor to the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT), attended the 1st Meeting of the National Committee for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour for 2026, held at the Prof. Nikom Chandravithun Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.
The meeting reviewed and exchanged key information on Thailand’s efforts to prevent and eliminate child labour. Topics included the Marrakech Global Framework for Action against Child Labour 2026, as well as the progress report on Thailand’s implementation of measures to eliminate the worst forms of child labour for 2025.
The meeting also acknowledged progress in addressing child labour and forced labour issues in key product sectors, including shrimp, fish, sugarcane, and garments, as well as the outcomes of activities organised to mark the World Day Against Child Labour on 12 June 2026.
In addition, the meeting considered several important matters, including the draft report on the situation of child labour elimination for Fiscal Year 2025 for submission to the Cabinet; the appointment of additional working groups to drive and coordinate efforts to prevent and address child labour and forced labour in the sugarcane and garment sectors; and the Survey on Working Children in Thailand.
ECOT places strong importance on promoting responsible employment practices, respecting labour rights, and strengthening cooperation among the government, employers, and relevant stakeholders. These efforts aim to help raise labour standards and support the sustainable prevention of child labour in Thailand.
