🌊 ECOT participated in the 1st National Advisory Committee Meeting of the “Ship to Shore Rights SEA” Project


🌊 ECOT Advances Thailand’s Fisheries and Seafood Industry Towards International Standards! 🦐🐟

On 23 September 2025, the Employers’ Confederation of Thailand (ECOT) participated in the 1st National Advisory Committee Meeting of the “Ship to Shore Rights SEA” Project at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok.

🔎 What is the “Ship to Shore Rights SEA” Project?

This project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, the European Union (EU), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and several partner organizations. Its objectives are to:

  • Promote safe labour migration
  • Create decent work opportunities
  • Raise labour standards in the blue economy, covering the entire supply chain from fishing, aquaculture, to seafood processing

Building trust: Enhancing the global image of Thai seafood products
Sustainable development: Reducing labour risks and strengthening competitiveness
Comprehensive cooperation: Government, employers, workers, and international organizations working hand-in-hand

🛠 Role of ECOT

As a representative of employers, ECOT will collaborate with the Ministry of Labour, the Thai Fishery Association, seafood industry associations, and international organizations to:

  • Provide strategic policy advice
  • Monitor and evaluate implementation
  • Drive the development of labour standards in Thailand’s fisheries and seafood industry to be sustainable, responsible, and internationally recognized

✨ The Ministry of Labour, led by Minister Pongkwin Chuengrueangkit, reaffirmed its commitment to fully support the project, ensuring that both Thai and migrant workers are treated fairly, with safe working environments and improved quality of life.

🌐 ECOT is proud to be part of this important initiative and will continue to work with all stakeholders to promote a sustainable blue economy for Thailand.
